If you’re like me, when you want to know something, and the someone who has the answer is quite busy/famous, and their email address available, you write and ask your question. Then they (may or may not) write back with an answer. And you write back to thank them for their time. And maybe they feel like they need to write back and say, “No trouble.” AND… Read the rest of this entry »

Snippet #1
I’ve been in a computer limbo of sorts the last couple days. Freaky things. I’ve been able to blog, here, with no issues, but my Gmail has been haunted or possessed or something. And FoxFire keeps locking up, forcing me to End Session, which is never good, and, once, Read the rest of this entry »

I’ve just been rereading some old favorites, and I’m happy to see they still hold up. I’ve been chatting with Orangehands in email about what makes a book a classic. The books we’re assigned to read in school, junior high and high school, some of them are just plain painful to get through, even for voracious readers like we are. Others just sing. After my plagiarism post, I started investigating. Second time around, I had a few clues as to what I should be looking for. When this happened the last time, I discovered that the thief blog was hosted on a free blog site. Not Blogger or WordPress or a site owned by the blog developers, but a domain that seemed to only host free blogs. What sweethearts! Read the rest of this entry »

Nothing exciting going on, but I’ve been saving up a bunch of stuff I’ve found in my wandering of the Internetz to share with y’all. I must be having a Southern moment. The “y’all,” I mean. Bless my heart.
I’ve never been a fan of Kurt Vonnegut, but this quote caught my eye the other day,
Peculiar travel suggestions are dancing lessons from God.*

I’ve been seeing a lot of snarky comments about Wikipedia lately – the quality of their information and the foolishness of folks who rely on that information when doing research. Wikipedia, like most things is only as good as what’s put into it. Duh. But for those folks who’ve found mistakes or very slanted articles, Read the rest of this entry »

Heh. The best defense is a good offense. ;+) *I’ll take cliches for $100* So, someone has ratcheted up the crazy in my life over the last two days. If this keeps up, I’ll have to go back on my BP meds. Seriously. Talk about coming thick and fast. Read the rest of this entry »

It looks like HelenKay Dimon has taken the meme and flipped it over on its butt, bless her! LOL! So the new meme is Top Ten Things You Won’t See… Funny thing is, while I was doing the first meme, I was thinking of Barbara Michaels/Elizabeth Peters and her guarantee that there would never be a rape in anything she wrote. If you’re just here for the list of new meme participants, go here.
This has been a weird day. I had so many things planned to do, but mostly none of them were touched. Called the utility company because lightbulbs have been popping at a furious rate, and the fluorescents in the kitchen flare, then dim, then buzz like crazy. I did get some sorting done out in one of the pods while I waited for the repair guy. This is fascinating, really, you’ll want to read on. /;+) Read the rest of this entry »
